Workforce Secretary Greg Reed Names Kevin Kidd as Director of the Employment Services Division

MONTGOMERY - Alabama Department of Workforce Secretary Greg Reed announced that Kevin Kidd has been named as director of the Employment Services Division.

"Kevin Kidd has served the State of Alabama and this agency well for decades," said Reed. "I am confident in his leadership and fully expect him to successfully run this division and help Alabamians statewide discover new opportunities and further develop their potential."

Kidd previously served in the role of Employment Security Program Services Manager for five years and has been with the department for 27. He successfully re-faced the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) program to one of the top programs in the country. RESEA is a federal program that aims to reduce the duration of unemployment by providing targeted support to individuals receiving unemployment benefits to help them return to work faster.

"I want to thank Secretary Reed so much for this opportunity! I'm looking forward to this new chapter for the Department of Workforce and I'm excited to see what we can achieve for our great state in this new role," said Kidd.

As Director, Kidd serves in the role of overseeing the daily operations of the division. The Employment Service Division is responsible for all activities of the State Employment Service: Career Center Operations, Veterans' Services, the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program, the Federal Bonding program, and Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers (MSFW) activities. The Employment Service Division is the contact for information regarding the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs.

Kidd is a life-long Alabama resident and he grew up, married, and raised his children and grandchildren in rural northeast Alabama. Kevin and his wife Angie attend LifePoint church in Albertville. Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama and is a third-generation state of Alabama employee.

The Employment Service Division is part of the newly created Workforce Pathways Division at the Alabama Department of Workforce.

Last year's "Alabama Workforce Transformation Act" legislation added to and renamed the Department of Labor as the Alabama Department of Workforce.
