Supportive Homes for Veterans Now Open on Former Novato Military Base

Veterans have a new place to call home in Marin County! Sweeney Place is a new affordable housing community in the City of Novato. Built on the former Hamilton Field Air Force Base, Sweeney Place provides homes with on-site supportive services for veterans at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

A project of Homeward Bound of Marin, this development replaced old, defunct warehouses on the base with 26 units of permanent supportive housing. Sweeney Place will serve six families and 20 individuals.

Sweeney Place is a part of a larger project on the former Air Force base that includes additional apartments and a culinary training center. HCD provided $14.4 million in Homekey funds and another $3 million in Veterans Housing and Homelessness Prevention program funding to support this project.
