Netflix Announces Documentary on Marta, Showcasing the Career of One of the Greatest Players in History

São Paulo, October 8, 2026 - Netflix has begun filming a documentary feature about Marta, following her as she prepares for her last FIFA World Cup with the Brazilian National Team, in 2027, in Brazil. At 40, and with 25 years dedicated to football, she is living another chapter of a career that transformed women's sports.

With production underway, the film will feature never-before-seen testimonies and takes as its starting point this moment, as Marta prepares to wear the national team jersey for the last time at a home World Cup, in front of the fans who watched her make history and crowned her, forever, the Queen.

Named FIFA Best Women's Player six times, Marta is also the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Brazilian National Team, men and women included. In 2025, she was named Greatest Player of All Time by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). Her career includes stints at clubs in Brazil, Sweden, and the United States, as well as titles and appearances in some of the world's biggest football competitions.

The documentary is a Conspiração Filmes production, directed by Eliza Capai, written by João Costa Van Hombeeck and Carolina Albuquerque, with cinematography by Helen Braga and executive production by Renata Brandão, Luisa Barbosa, and Andrucha Waddington.
