Washington, D.C. - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement on the Justice Department expanding its settlement of Donald Trump's corrupt lawsuit against the IRS and Treasury Department to cut off any audits or claims against Trump, his family or businesses:
"Not only is this another heinously corrupt act by the most corrupt administration in history, it's clearly a violation of the law that prohibits interference by executive branch officials in IRS audits. Democrats are going to fight every element of this self-dealing settlement, but regardless of the outcome of those efforts, future administrations and IRS leadership should consider this illegal directive completely invalid. The Trump family is not above the law, no matter what Trump or his personal attorney say."
