Inseason Update: West Coast Pacific Halibut Directed Commercial Fishery

NOAA Fisheries is providing harvest estimates for the 1st fishing period in the Area 2A non-Tribal directed commercial Pacific halibut fishery. The total allocation for this fishery is 261,211 pounds (118 mt), net weight (all weights are shown in net weight, unless otherwise specified).

Preliminary Harvest Estimate

The preliminary harvest estimate and remaining allocation below are based on commercial fisheries landings information as of July 1, 2026, including fish ticket data.

  • Fishing period #1 (June 23-25): 69,839 pounds (31.7 mt) net weight caught; 191,372 pounds (86.8 mt) net weight or 73% remaining.

2nd Fishing Period

As announced in the final rule ( 91 FR 36094 ), the 2nd fishing period opens July 7 and closes on July 9. Fishing period limits are as follows, in dressed weight, head-on with ice/slime. Note: Vessels with tenths of feet will be rounded up to the nearest foot for the purpose of fishing period limits.
