Community Services Grant Program
The Community Services Grant Program is intended to provide support to local social service agencies that assist in improving the mental or physical condition of Hillsboro residents. For purposes of the grant program, social services are defined as programs or activities that address community needs including, but not limited to:
2025-26 Grant Program
The City awarded a total of $200,000 to 12 social service organizations in the fall of 2025. Projects that aligned with at least one of these focus areas received priority funding:

Applications for the 2026-27 grant cycle are expected to open late next summer.
ASSIST helped Paco navigate Social Security Disability Insurance to find a stable home and recuperate from lifesaving medical treatment.
Serving Our Neighbors
The grant program has grown and changed since its inception in 1992 with a total award of just $15,000, but the focus - improving the mental or physical condition of Hillsboro residents - remains the same.
Community Services Grants support organizations like ASSIST (Assertive Supplemental Security Income Service Team) that serve the greater community and help local residents like Paco move toward better health, independence, and stability.

Budget Considerations
Funding for the Community Services Grant Program may be modified or suspended during times of economic downturn when revenue sources for the City are reduced and/or by City Council consistent with the adopted budget.
