WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) today announced that, collectively, U.S. corn refiners have supported the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices on more than 8.5 million acres of farmland across North America, an area equivalent to more than 10 million football fields.
This shared commitment goes back decades, demonstrating the corn refining industry's dedication to advancing soil health, reducing emissions, and helping farmers build climate resilience across key growing regions.
"I'm proud to see our members partnering with our friends in production agriculture to advance regenerative agriculture practices," said John Bode, President and CEO of the Corn Refiners Association. "Corn refining thrives in the U.S. because of the productivity and sustainability of the American corn farmer, ensuring America's rural communities can continue to provide the crops that will drive the growing ag bioeconomy while feeding and fueling a growing population. I'm excited to see more acres be committed to these important practices in the future."
CRA member companies provide resources, education, and tools to help farmers build resilient operations, as well as financial support to advance on-farm practices that promote sustainable, productive soils. Some of these practices include limiting tillage, implementing cover crops, introducing diversified crop rotations, and other innovative tools and technologies. As a result, the partnership between corn growers and corn refiners has led to the utilization of regenerative agriculture practices on 8.5 million acres of farmland, an area larger than the state of Maryland.
Regenerative agriculture practices reflect long-standing efforts to nourish communities while caring for the land. CRA member companies are committed to maintaining healthy, productive soils while protecting natural resources for future generations.
CRA, in alignment with many in the agriculture industry and Field to Market, recognizes regenerative agriculture as a systems-based approach that seeks to sequester carbon in the soil to improve soil health, biodiversity, water quality, and air quality, all while ensuring the long-term viability of agriculture production.
