As of Saturday, April 25, approximately 67 households near Cuesta Park remain under a Do Not Use Water notice. Residents in the affected area must not use tap water for any purpose until the notice is lifted.
This means affected residents should not use tap water for drinking, cooking, handwashing, bathing, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or any other household use.
City of Mountain View water utility crews are on site flushing the system and conducting water quality testing. If initial test results confirm the water is safe for limited non-drinking uses, such as flushing toilets, the City will contact each affected household directly with instructions and required steps before service is restored. This update is expected Saturday afternoon.
Comprehensive drinking water safety testing is not expected to be completed until at least Monday, April 27. The City is offering hotel stays for the affected residents who need it. City staff remain in close coordination with State Water Resources Control Board regulators to restore safe water service as quickly as possible.
Residents needing assistance, including hotel information, should call 650-903-6081 or email [email protected]. Additional updates are available on the City website.
This notice follows a water main incident involving a City contractor on Friday, April 24, which caused a contamination breach and required the water supply in the affected area to be shut off.
