Alexandria, VA - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International received a grant award of $65,000 from Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions. The grant is administered through APCO's Silent Key and Commercial Advisory Council Scholarship Program, which makes scholarship funds available to public safety communications professionals to participate in APCO Institute training.
"Investing in the professional development of our emergency communications professionals strengthens the entire public safety community," said APCO President Mike O'Connor. "Through APCO's scholarship program, we are proud to help our members access the training, education and certifications they need to advance their careers and better serve their communities. We are grateful to the Motorola Solutions Foundation for its continued support of this important program. Investing in the people who are at the heart of emergency communications helps build stronger and safer communities."
The scholarship application period begins on January 15, 2027, and winners are announced in the spring. Award recipients may use scholarship funds to enroll in APCO Institute professional development leadership programs and courses between July 1, 2027, and June 30, 2028.
The APCO Institute is the training and educational division of APCO and is the largest provider of emergency communications training in the nation. The APCO Institute offers a broad range of learning opportunities, including in-person instruction, virtual courses and online courses, as well as key leadership programs such as the Certified Public-Safety Executive (CPE) Program and the Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL) Program. The scholarships awarded allow public safety communications professionals to pursue professional development opportunities and earn valuable certifications to advance their careers.
