Prasar Bharati’s WAVES OTT Surpasses One Crore Users Milestone

Prasar Bharati's digital streaming platform, WAVES OTT, has surpassed one crore registered users less than two years after its launch in November 2024, marking a significant milestone in the growth of India's public digital media ecosystem.

According to India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the achievement reflects the increasing adoption of homegrown digital platforms that provide trusted, inclusive, and diverse content to audiences both in India and around the world. The platform has also recorded more than 1.4 crore downloads, underscoring its growing popularity among viewers.

Building on this success, WAVES OTT is now focused on its next phase of expansion. Future plans include strengthening content partnerships, broadening distribution across devices and platforms, enhancing regional and educational programming, and achieving a target of two crore registered users by March 2027.

Commenting on the milestone, Prasar Bharati stated that the achievement highlights the growing relevance of digital public service media in today's digital landscape. It also reinforces the broadcaster's vision of creating a single destination for television, radio, on-demand content, education, culture, and heritage.

WAVES OTT currently hosts more than 24,000 content titles and over 15,000 hours of programming across a wide range of genres, including entertainment, news, education, culture, spirituality, and public service content. The platform offers access to more than 140 live television channels, over 200 radio services, live event streaming, educational content through PM eVidya channels, and thousands of hours of archival content from Prasar Bharati.
