[Hartford, CT] - Today U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released a statement on the U.S. Department of Defense's announcement that Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a $670 million contract to work on F135 engines for F-35 fighter jets
"This $670 million contract modification is a huge win for the talented machinists at Pratt & Whitney and our national defense. Pratt's F135 engines are top of the line and power the world's most dynamic fighter jets. I am thrilled to see yet another vote of confidence for Connecticut made products and will keep fighting to support our local defense manufacturers," Blumenthal said.
The $670 million contract announced this week modifies an existing $2.8 billion contract awarded to the defense manufacturer. The contract orders the production and delivery of aircraft engine components, parts, and technical services, all of which are produced in East Hartford.
