Sinton Trail improvements complete, enhancing safety and accessibility for trail users

The City of Colorado Springs has completed improvements to the Sinton Trail earlier between Holland Park Boulevard and North Chestnut Street, delivering a smoother, safer, and more accessible experience for residents and visitors. The upgraded segment reopened to the public about a month ago and is already serving walkers, bicyclists, runners, and other trail users.

The completed project by the City's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department replaced deteriorating asphalt with a durable concrete surface, improving comfort and long-term reliability along this heavily used corridor. Additional grading and drainage enhancements address longstanding maintenance issues and help ensure the trail performs well year-round. The project also removed an abandoned overhead water line that had created inaccessible grades along the trail and posed a safety concern for users. These improvements make the trail easier to navigate for users of all ages and abilities while strengthening connections within the City's broader trail system.

"The Sinton Trail is an important recreational and transportation connection for this part of the city, and these improvements were designed with long-term durability and accessibility in mind," said Emily Duncan, Trails Development Coordinator for the City of Colorado Springs. "We're pleased to reopen this section and provide trail users with a safer, smoother experience they can enjoy for years to come."

The project was funded through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA II), a voter-approved regional transportation initiative.
