Washington DC-On the second anniversary of the brutal October 7 terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas against the State of Israel, U.S. Representative María Elvira Salazar (FL-27) reaffirmed her unwavering support for Israel and the global Jewish community.
"Two years ago today, the world watched in horror as Hamas unleashed the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The world witnessed Hamas commit unthinkable atrocities in Israel, with babies burned alive, women raped, and families slaughtered in their homes, said Representative Salazar. "We will never forget that day and we will never excuse such evil."
She emphasized that remembrance must be matched with action to ensure justice and lasting security.
"Today, while negotiations for peace are hopefully close to completion, I pray that President Trump will help finalize a deal that brings every hostage home, restores Israel's security, and ends this nightmare once and for all. Evil must never triumph, terror must never be rewarded, and the Jewish people must know they are not alone. America stands with them, now and forever."
Throughout her time in Congress, Rep. Salazar has been a consistent and vocal advocate for Israel and the Jewish people, leading and co-leading bipartisan initiatives to honor Jewish history and confront the rising tide of antisemitism worldwide.
Earlier this year, she co-led the Pray Safe Act, a bipartisan measure responding to the alarming rise in attacks against places of worship. This legislation would establish a centralized federal resource hub to help faith-based organizations access safety information, best practices, and federal security grants.
She also co-led the Forgotten Heroes of the Holocaust Congressional Gold Medal Act, which was signed into law in 2024 and awards the Congressional Gold Medal to 60 diplomats who bravely and selflessly saved Jewish lives during the Holocaust, often at great personal risk.
Rep. María Elvira Salazar has held hearings on the rise of antisemitism around the world and remains firmly committed to religious freedom, combating antisemitism, and standing shoulder to shoulder with America's allies.
