Serial Mail Thief Pleads Guilty to Felony Burglary, Sentence...

CHICAGO, IL - After a joint investigation by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Chicago Police Department, Veronica Cavallari, 30, of Chicago, IL, pleaded guilty on June 18, 2026, to two counts of felony burglary in Cook County Criminal Court and was subsequently sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The Postal Inspection Service and the Chicago Police Department arrested Cavallari on December 15, 2025, after a vehicle pursuit on Chicago's North Side.

Cavallari was identified as the suspect responsible for automobile thefts and for multiple burglaries inside several condo and apartment buildings on the North Side and in northern Cook County, stealing mail with the intent to commit identity theft and check fraud.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service appreciates the assistance of the Chicago Police Department in this investigation, specifically the 24th District Robbery/Burglary/Theft Mission Team and the 17th District Robbery/Burglary/Theft detectives, as well as our ongoing partnership with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
