DASNY President Robert Rodriguez Tours SUNY Ulster Campus to Review Completed and Ongoing Capital Projects

Tour showcases classroom renovations and campus improvements supporting students across the Hudson Valley

ALBANY, NY - Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) President and CEO Robert J. Rodriguez toured the SUNY Ulster campus this week alongside SUNY Ulster President Alison Buckley, Ed.D. The visit focused on reviewing a wide range of completed, ongoing, and planned campus improvements that support student learning, campus operations, and long-term facility reliability.

DASNY has partnered with SUNY Ulster on more than $32.9 million in campus improvements in recent years, including $8.5 million in completed projects, $5.6 million in work currently underway, and $13.2 million in projects being planned and designed, with additional upgrades subject to future approvals.

The visit included a walkthrough of Hardenburgh Hall and Burroughs Hall, where completed renovations modernized computer rooms, classrooms, and lecture hall spaces. While several of these improvements were completed in prior years, the tour provided an opportunity to see how these updated learning spaces are continuing to serve students and faculty today.

"Over time, DASNY has worked closely with SUNY Ulster to help modernize campus facilities and ensure students are learning in spaces that are safe, functional, and built to last," said DASNY President and CEO Robert J. Rodriguez. "That long-term approach is especially important as New York State continues to make historic investments in public higher education. Governor Hochul's budget includes more than $1.2 billion in new capital funding for SUNY. These investments reflect a strong commitment to maintaining public college campuses across New York, and we're proud to help SUNY Ulster turn that commitment into real improvements students can see and use."

The tour also highlighted several completed campus upgrades focused on keeping buildings safe, reliable, and well maintained over time. These projects included roof replacements, window upgrades, skylight removals, door and entrance repairs, and rooftop equipment replacements at Hardenburgh Hall, Burroughs Hall, the Student Life Center, the Macdonald DeWitt Library, Vanderlyn Hall, and the Senate Gymnasium. Together these upgrades help protect campus buildings from weather-related wear and extend their useful life.

"I want to extend my sincere gratitude to DASNY for recognizing the critical needs of SUNY Ulster and for investing in projects that directly benefit our students-today and into the future," said SUNY Ulster President, Alison Buckley, Ed.D.. "With over 6,000 students served last academic year, SUNY Ulster plays a pivotal role not only in education but in strengthening our broader community. At a time when affordability remains a pressing issue, investing in education is more important than ever. We warmly invite our residents to visit the Stone Ridge Campus or the Kingston Center to experience firsthand the vital work your community college is doing for you."

Several additional campus improvements are currently underway or moving forward, including window replacements, emergency roof repairs, and elevator upgrades in key academic and student buildings. Other major campus upgrades-such as new roofs, heating and cooling improvements, and exterior repairs-are in the planning and design phase.

The campus tour included stops at Hardenburgh Hall, Burroughs Hall, the Macdonald DeWitt Library, and the Student Life Center, offering a comprehensive look at how classroom upgrades and campuswide improvements work together to support SUNY Ulster's educational mission.

SUNY Ulster serves students throughout the Hudson Valley with academic and workforce-focused programs designed to meet regional needs and support student success.
