On President Trump's peace agreement with Iran:
"Well, Linsey, I think most importantly is that I would frame this conversation by saying that look, Americans are done with forever wars, and that Americans deserve affordable gas and groceries, and that's exactly what this deal delivers. And probably most importantly, is that Americans will be safe for generations to come, that Iran has promised that they'll never have a nuclear weapon. The Strait of Hormuz is already open, it's flowing, and that's why we're seeing gas prices come down. So, so personally, I'm pretty excited about it."
"Well, I think that sometimes you have to give something, and this is what we gave, but just remember, there's a 60-day deadline. So, President Trump is giving them this deadline, we still have 50,000 troops right there. We know exactly who we're dealing with, the agreement is set up with trust but verify. We're not sending them money, any cold hard cash ahead of time, so they have to meet certain requirements as we go ahead. So, I think that's what we had to give - this is a two-sided agreement, and I think this was how we got them to the finally to the negotiation table, and they signed the agreement."
"Yeah, I just can't emphasize enough that we are done with forever wars. And I think President Trump has an agreement here that's going to end something that no one else could end for over 40 years. We've been in this 'cold war', if we will, on and off, dealing with a regime that kills thousands of Christians every year across the world. I just think that we're in a much, much better place. We've decimated their military; we've destroyed their nuclear armament. I understand that some people, there's never enough war for them, but for me personally - and I think for most of the folks back home - we are done with these forever wars."
On the future of Iran's nuclear program:
"I think in my conversation with the Vice President last night, is that very clearly, they're not going to do any more nuclear development. Remember, the JCPOA allowed them to start enriching uranium right now, they would have a nuclear weapon here in about five years. So, Iran has agreed to not do any further development, they're not going to have any type of nuclear program, they're going to turn over the nuclear dust one way or another - maybe they just destroy it on site under supervision. So, I think we're in a really solid place right now."
On the winner of this peace agreement:
"Yeah, so this is a memorandum of agreement right now, and I expect we're going to see it probably later this week. And I think what's important to point out is again there's two sides to this agreement. And I think in this particular case, Iran did not want any details released already, that they are trying to present this back home as well. They're just facing a horrible situation in Iran right now - they have 70% inflation, their average GDP per capita basis is the same as somebody that lives in Haiti, our poorest country in this hemisphere right now, so they're trying to save face as well. So, it takes 'two to tango' as you speak, and I think again we're in a really good spot, this is a win for America. Again, gas prices are already coming down, groceries are going to be coming down as well, the Strait is open, and no more nukes for Iran. I think those are huge, huge winners."
