Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Wang Yu Meets with the New Leader of Southwest State of Somalia Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe)

On June 18, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, met with H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), former Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia and new Leader of Southwest State of Somalia.

Ambassador Wang congratulated Madoobe on his election as Leader of Southwest State of Somalia. He stated that China supports Somalia to safeguard its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and to pursue a development path suited to the nation's conditions. China is ready to work with Somalia to enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and promote sound and steady development of the China-Somalia strategic partnership.

Madobe said that Somalia appreciates China's firm support for safeguarding Somalia's national core interests and advancing the national rebuilding and social-economic development. The Somali side will continue to adhere to the one-China principle. He will continue to play a positive role in promoting Somalia-China relations.
