State Route 4/Ebbetts Pass Traffic Advisory

One-Way Traffic Control Next Week

Alpine County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform the following highway traffic controls and lane closures on State Route 4 (SR-4) / Ebbetts Pass for construction work next week in Alpine County. Work will occur as follows:

State Route 4

  • One-way traffic control from Bear Valley Road to Bloods Creek for drainage work beginning Monday, August 24, through Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • One-way intermittent traffic control from Coral Hallow Trailhead to Backpackers Campground beginning Wednesday, August 26, through Thursday, August 28, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Lake Alpine to the Lake Alpine Closure Gate for drainage work on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Bear Creek to the Alpine Ranger Station for drainage work on Thursday, August 27, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
