"Family violence can take many forms and it threatens a person's well-being, security and survival. This November, we're raising awareness to ensure that families know that help is available.

"Alberta's government is investing more than $88 million for family and sexual violence prevention including support for more than 50 women's shelters and 15 sexual assault centres across Alberta. More than $9 million supports innovative family violence programs that engage diverse communities, including men and boys, as partners in stopping violence before it starts. This is all part of more than $188 million for gender-based violence prevention across Alberta, furthering Building on Our Strengths: Alberta's 10-year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence.

"We all have a role to play in ending family violence. You can make a difference by checking in with a friend, colleague, classmate or family member who may need support. Open conversations about healthy relationships help build understanding, set boundaries and create physical and emotional safety.

"Thank you to the dedicated Albertans working to make our communities safer and more welcoming. Your compassion and commitment make a real difference. We will continue to help children and families find the support they need. Together, we can end family violence in Alberta."

Searle Turton, Minister of Children and Family Services

"Violence has no place in our homes, relationships or communities. During Family Violence Prevention Month, we reaffirm our commitment to building a province where every Albertan feels safe and supported.

"Through Building on Our Strengths: Alberta's 10-year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence, we are taking meaningful action to address all forms of abuse, including family violence, address root causes and strengthen supports for survivors.

"We remain dedicated to making Alberta a place where everyone can live, work and raise a family free from violence."

Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women
