05 November 2026 - The Biopharmaceutical CEO Roundtable (BCR), bringing together CEOs from leading global biopharmaceutical companies, met in New York on 3-4 November to discuss the changing global policy environment and priorities for strengthening innovation, access, and the long-term competitiveness of the sector.
Discussions centered on the contribution of innovative medicines and vaccines to better health, stronger health systems, economic growth, and health security, and the role of the biopharmaceutical industry as a strategic partner to governments in achieving these outcomes.
The meeting also focused on the policy conditions required to support both patient access today and continued investment in future innovation. These include appropriate recognition of the value of innovative medicines and vaccines, strong intellectual property frameworks, agile regulatory systems, resilient health systems, and sustainable financing that keeps pace with evolving patient needs and scientific progress.
Countries with predictable policy environments that recognize the value of medical innovation are better positioned to attract R&D, advanced manufacturing, investment, and skilled jobs. This requires governments to view spending on health and medicines not simply as a cost, but as an investment in healthier populations, stronger economies, and more resilient societies.
IFPMA represents the innovative pharmaceutical industry at the international level, engaging in official relations with the United Nations and multilateral organizations. Our vision is to ensure that scientific progress translates into the next generation of medicines and vaccines that deliver a healthier future for people everywhere.
To achieve this, we act as a trusted partner, bringing our members' expertise to champion pharmaceutical innovation, drive policy that supports the research, development, and delivery of health technologies, and create sustainable solutions that advance global health.
