California Bill Targets Data Center Water Use Disclosure

California legislators have passed Assembly Bill 93, which requires data centers to publicly report their annual water usage. The bill addresses concerns over the AI-driven data center boom and its substantial water demands for cooling, particularly in arid regions such as California, Arizona, and Texas. The measure awaits Gov. Newsom's signature and, if enacted, would make California one of the first states to mandate such disclosure.
