City Council to recognize local businesses and community organizations Oct. 27

The City Council on Tuesday, October 27 will recognize a local business and community organizations for their longstanding contributions to the community, highlighting their commitment to service, inclusion, sustainability and education.

The business portion of the meeting begins at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

As part of the City's Business Spotlight program, Council Members will recognize a vibrant local business that has been serving the community with its signature aromas since 1985.

The Council will also honor Repair Café OC, a local nonprofit organization that hosts a popular monthly event at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. The event brings neighbors together to help one another repair broken household items at no cost, promoting sustainability, resourcefulness and community connection.

Also receiving recognition on Tuesday is Vocational Visions, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through its programs and services, the organization helps individuals develop their talents and skills while creating pathways to employment, lifelong learning and social inclusion.

The Council will celebrate the Kiwanis Club of Mission Viejo for its longtime commitment to community service. Since 1969, the organization has made a meaningful impact through its dedication to serving local residents and supporting the community.

In addition, the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library will be recognized for its continued support of the library and its many contributions to enriching library services and programs. As part of the recognition, the Friends will present the City with a check representing donations raised through its year-round fundraising efforts.
