Association Comments on 2027 Marketplace Proposed Rule

America's Essential Hospitals commented on the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters for 2027 (2027 NBPP) proposed rule, which sets standards for the health insurance marketplaces. The proposed rule includes provisions on essential community providers (ECPs) and catastrophic plans. It also implements several provisions from the Working Families Tax Cut legislation (WFTCL).

The association urged HHS to ensure essential hospitals were included in qualifying health plans sold on the marketplace by leveraging essential health system designation. We also asked HHS to consider the effects of high-deductible plans on hospital uncompensated care.

Comments are due March 13.
