Partnership with Sensos lets MROs, flight departments, and parts buyers follow a part, engine, or APU in transit, independent of carrier scans
When an aircraft is on the ground, the parts buyer's first question is whether the part is available. The second is where it is right now. JSSI Parts & Engines (JPE), the aftermarket parts and engine leasing division of Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI), is adding Sensos live tracking to its high-value and AOG-critical shipments so customers can follow a part, engine, or APU from JPE's distribution center to their own hangar. Tracking is included at no cost to the customer.
The program covers parts, engines, and APUs across sales, exchange, and lease. Each eligible shipment travels with a Sensos smart label, and customers receive live tracking access so they can see where the shipment is without waiting on carrier scans.
Carrier scans leave gaps, especially across handoffs, airline loading, and borders. With live location plus dwell and route alerts, the customer and JPE's logistics team see a stalled shipment as it happens and can plan the maintenance event around a real arrival time rather than a carrier estimate. If a shipment misses its flight, the customer and JPE know immediately instead of finding out at the destination.
The gap is widest on international shipments. JSSI supports operators in more than 120 countries, and customs holds and courier blind spots are the hardest part of an international parts shipment to manage. Continuous tracking keeps the shipment visible during those stretches.
The labels also report condition, not just location. Shock and tamper alerts on engines, APUs, and rotables give both sides a record of how a unit traveled. That matters most on exchange and lease assets, where a unit mishandled in transit can become a dispute about who is responsible.
"When an aircraft is on the ground, our customers need two answers: that we have the part, and exactly where it is. By embedding Sensos real-time tracking in our critical shipments, we turn every AOG part into a live data point, from our warehouse to their hangar, so maintenance teams plan around an actual arrival time, not an estimate. It's another step in building a digitally connected supply chain for our customer," said Philipe Figueiredo, Global Vice President, JSSI Parts & Engines.
"When an aircraft is grounded, maintenance teams can't afford to wait on delayed carrier scans or best-guess delivery windows. At Sensos, our smart labels and 24/7 AI monitoring services are built to resolve disruptions early. If a shipment gets bumped, the system alerts airlines, carriers, and maintenance teams immediately, and identifies next-flight options for the AOG desk. By putting our labels directly on shipments, JPE gives operators the continuous location and tracking they need to return aircraft to service faster," said Julia Casciaro, Head of Sales for North America at Sensos.
The Sensos smart label is a credit-card-sized cellular device that attaches to the shipment and reports live location and condition data, including shock, tamper, dwell time, and temperature. It works with any carrier, requires no infrastructure at either end, and is approved for air freight.
Tracking is rolling out on eligible JPE shipments beginning this month. Customers with questions about tracking on an upcoming shipment can contact Dane Coy, Senior Logistics Manager, at [email protected].
