Pasadena Water and Power Celebrates Public Power Week 2025

PASADENA, Calif.- Every year, the first week of October is nationally recognized as Public Power Week. Pasadena Water and Power (PWP), along with the American Public Power Association (APPA) and publicly owned utilities (POUs) nationwide, will celebrate Public Power Week from Oct. 5-11, 2025.

Public Power Week is a time for utilities to spotlight the way they serve their communities and share the benefits of being a POU customer. As a not-for-profit public service, PWP operates for the benefit of Pasadena's residents, businesses and visitors. PWP prioritizes reliability, responsiveness to customers, competitive rates and environmental stewardship.

The community is invited to attend family-friendly activities and opportunities:

  • Storytime and Touch-a-Truck with a Lineman
    • Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m.
    • Hastings Branch Library, 3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd.
    • An electric storybook reading from real linemen and an opportunity to see a PWP vehicle in-person. All ages welcome. Recommended for ages 18 - 36 months.
  • Electric Circuit Activity
    • Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    • La Pintoresca Branch Library, 1355 N. Raymond Ave.
    • Learn the basic science behind electrical circuits! All ages welcome. Recommended for ages 5 to 12.
