Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) joined the Taiwan-U.S. Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission at the U.S. Capitol, where Taiwan announced a $10 billion commitment to purchase American agricultural products between 2025 and 2028. The agreement includes soybeans, corn, wheat, and beef and represents a five-fold increase in Taiwan's U.S. ag imports.
"North Dakota produces some of the highest quality products in the world, and Taiwan's commitment is a big win for our soybean, corn, and wheat growers as well as beef producers," Fedorchak said. "When I meet with folks back home, expanding market opportunities is top of mind. This announcement shows the strength of trusted allies supporting American agriculture, and I'm grateful for Taiwan's ongoing partnership."
Fedorchak emphasized that Taiwan's new agricultural purchase agreement is especially significant for North Dakota's soybean growers, who are preparing for harvest season. In her remarks, she also underscored Taiwan's role as one of America's strongest partners in East Asia and pledged to keep working to strengthen agricultural markets.
Ambassador Alexander Yui, Minister of Agriculture Junne-Jih Chen, 30 leaders from Taiwan's agricultural sector, and representatives from U.S. agricultural associations, including leaders from the U.S. Soybean Export Council, attended yesterday's event.
