COLUMBUS, Ohio [October 1, 2025] - Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, today announced the North America availability of low-GWP refrigerant versions of its perimeter, row, and wall-mount cooling systems for data centers. These systems are part of Vertiv's direct expansion (DX) thermal management portfolio and are available more than a year in advance of U.S. EPA requirements taking effect on January 1, 2027. Further, they are fully compliant with current California regulations as well as with impending New York state regulations that take effect in January 2026.
The newly released Vertiv™ CoolPhase Perimeter uses R-454B refrigerant, a low-GWP alternative to legacy refrigerants that reduces environmental impact while complying with regulatory requirements. The Vertiv™ CoolPhase Row and Vertiv™ CoolPhase Wall use R-32 refrigerant, also classified as low-GWP, supporting compliance while maintaining performance. The systems are designed to maintain or even improve footprint, performance, reliability, and efficiency compared to the legacy Vertiv™ Liebert® DS, Vertiv™ Liebert® DSE, Vertiv™ Liebert® PDX, and Vertiv™ Liebert® CRV units. With Vertiv™ Liebert® iCOM™ controls integration and smart design, the new Vertiv™ CoolPhase systems deliver energy efficiency while maintaining the performance customers expect.
"Customers looking to stay ahead of regulatory deadlines can start that journey today," said Ben Smith, vice president of thermal management at Vertiv. "The Vertiv CoolPhase Perimeter, Vertiv CoolPhase Row, and Vertiv CoolPhase Wall systems give operators a straightforward path to replace older models with low GWP compliant, energy efficient solutions that align with environmental goals while providing the needed performance and reliability."
These systems further strengthen Vertiv's thermal portfolio, which spans air handlers, direct expansion, chillers, in-room cooling, rear-door heat exchangers, and liquid cooling. The low GWP offerings reinforce Vertiv's position as a partner delivering energy efficient solutions across data center environments.
