Hoyer Statement on October Jobs Report

"While last month saw modest job growth, with 165,000 jobs added and unemployment changing to 4.1%, these figures do little to comfort working families facing higher costs. In fact, for the past seven months, inflation has been rising faster than average household earnings.

"The White House has long claimed that 'President Trump is delivering real results,' but Americans know the truth - and made that clear this week. All he has delivered have been painful tariffs, rising costs, and tax giveaways for his billionaire associates. Across the country, Americans know who Trump is working for, and it isn't the people.

"The American people have now answered him by entrusting the next Congress to a strong Democratic Majority. They want leaders who will fight for them - leaders who will work to address the affordability crisis, who will restore Affordable Care Act subsidies, and who will fight corruption with accountability. The next Democratic Majority is ready to do the job."
