SEMO Connects Accounting Students with Employers
Southeast Missouri State University knows career preparation extends beyond the classroom. The Harrison College of Business and Computing is connecting students directly with major accounting firms during the 19th Annual Meet the Firms Night on Monday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Dempster Hall.
Meet the Firms Night is an annual networking event that connects accounting students with representatives from public accounting firms, corporations and other organizations interested in recruiting interns and future full-time employees.
"Meet the Firms Night gives students direct access to employers," said Rebecca Lohmann, instructor in the Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance at SEMO. "It helps students build professional networking skills, explore career opportunities and learn about employer expectations. Many students make connections that lead to internships, interviews and careers."
Representatives from 16 organizations are registered to attend:

The event is one example of how SEMO connects students with employers and career opportunities while they are still in college. Through employer engagement and hands-on learning, students build relationships with organizations that employ graduates in Eastern Missouri and beyond.
"We are grateful for the ongoing support of these employers and alumni and their willingness to invest time and resources in mentoring and recruiting SEMO students. That investment is proof of the caliber of students we educate," said Lohmann.
