Rock Valley College Traffic Safety Program Recognized with National Awards

Rock Valley College's Traffic Safety Program has been honored by the National Safety Council (NSC) for its outstanding commitment to driver education and roadway safety.

Each year, the NSC Defensive Driving Team recognizes top training centers nationwide for the number of drivers trained in its Defensive Driving Programs.

"The reputation and credibility of Rock Valley College are exemplified through the strength of our Traffic Safety Program," said Michael Battaglia, Director of the RVC Traffic Safety Program. "This program offers participants the opportunity to not only remove a moving violation from their driving record but also to refresh their understanding of traffic laws and improve their driving skills. In addition, many insurance providers offer discounted rates for drivers aged 55 and older who complete the course."

In 2024, Rock Valley College trained more than 3,200 students across multiple courses, including the Defensive Driving 4-hour course (classroom and online), Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving, and Alive at 25. This achievement earned RVC recognition as one of the top-performing training centers in the country.

"Driven by the professionalism and dedication of our Traffic Safety team, we are committed to treating every participant with dignity and respect," said Michael Battaglia. "Our goal is to empower drivers with the knowledge and tools necessary to make safer decisions behind the wheel-ultimately enhancing the safety of our roads and the well-being of our community."

The National Safety Council, America's leading nonprofit safety advocate for over 100 years, works to eliminate the leading causes of preventable death and injury by focusing on workplace safety, roadway safety, and impairment.

The recognition underscores Rock Valley College's long-standing role as a leader in traffic safety education and its dedication to keeping driver and the community safe.
