Protect Yourself from Extreme Heat
Earth Month is an important time to recognize how environmental changes may affect our health. As temperatures rise in Pasadena, the Pasadena Public Health Department (PPHD) reminds the community, especially outdoor workers, to take precautions against heat-related illness. Drink water frequently, even before you feel thirsty, and avoid sugary, alcoholic, and energy drinks. When spending time outside, use sunscreen and wear hats, sunglasses, and loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing. If your home does not have air conditioning, visit a local cooling center. If you see someone experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 right away. For more information on extreme heat safety, visit Ready.gov/heat.
For local weather resources, visit the Extreme Weather Portal, City Resources and Information website.
Pasadena Police Supports Earth Day
In recognition of Earth Day, the Pasadena Police Department continues to explore environmentally sustainable technologies to support its operations. Recently, the Department's Traffic Section tested and evaluated electric motorcycles during major special events, gaining valuable insight into how low-emission vehicles can be incorporated into public safety functions. While still evaluating future applications, the Department remains committed to identifying innovative, energy-efficient solutions that help reduce environmental impact while maintaining effective service to the community.
New Commercial and Residential Solar Power Rebates
In April, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) will offer rebates for residential and commercial solar power systems and battery storage. Installing a rooftop solar photovoltaic system or a behind-the-meter battery energy storage system in your home or business is an environmentally conscious way to offset your energy usage, contribute to the City of Pasadena's clean energy goals, and save on your utility bill.
