Defendant Convicted of Sexually Assaulting Two Girls

CASE: Gregory Ortiz (Case #24FE006441)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Givens, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

On September 3, 2026, Gregory Ortiz was convicted by a jury of eight counts child sexual assault. The Jury also found true a multi-victim allegation. The Judge found true aggravating factors that the victims were particularly vulnerable, and the defendant was in a position of trust.

On September 21, 2023, one victim reported to law enforcement that Greogry Ortiz had touched her inappropriately when she was 11 or 12 years old. The victim stated that she repeatedly told Ortiz "no" and she tried to get away, but he proceeded to sexually assault her. Further investigation revealed Ortiz repeatedly sexually abused a second victim when she was 8 or 9 years.

Ortiz faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Sentencing is set for October 2, 2026, at 9 AM in Department 9A before the Honorable Bunmi Awoniyi.
