The month of January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and here in Illinois, State Representative Nicole La Ha continues her efforts to end this horrific crime.
"Ending human trafficking requires collaboration between lawmakers, law enforcement, survivors, and communities. I look forward to the work ahead in 2026," said Rep. La Ha. "Since my time in the Illinois General Assembly began, I have made combatting human trafficking a central part of my legislative agenda."
Among the legislative proposals sponsored and supported by Representative La Ha have been:
Repeatedly urging bipartisan support for these bills addressing human trafficking, I always emphasize that the fight is not a political issue, but rather one of human rights.
I cannot let Human Trafficking Prevention Month pass without acknowledging advocates, first responders, and survivors- many of whom are brave enough to share their stories. You matter and so does your story.

January 9 recognizes National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and State Representative Nicole La Ha and her staff recognized the efforts of law enforcement officers with donut deliveries to local police departments.
"Saying thank you with some sweet treats is nice way to show our public safety officials that we care," said La Ha. "We take this day very seriously and consider every day an opportunity to thank our first responders. I want to call out the help of The Donut Shop in Lockport for preparing the donuts."
La Ha and her staff delivered donuts on Friday to 14 local police departments serving the 82nd Legislative District. Representative La Ha has annually recognized Law Enforcement Appreciation Day by sharing appreciation with local police departments.
I am asking 82nd District constituents to please fill out my online legislative survey or return the direct-mail survey sent to households throughout the area this week.
This survey allows for 82nd District residents to share their thoughts, feelings, and opinions in an accessible online format. The survey is open to anyone in the 82nd District and is a great way for those interested to engage with their representative.
"Each survey response helps me focus on your priorities," Rep. Nicole La Ha said. "I am honored to serve as your voice in Springfield, and hope to hear from you."
"This Valentine's Day, we have a chance to do something small that can make a big impact," said Rep. La Ha. "Our veterans deserve to know they're remembered, valued, and appreciated for their service. These cards are a simple but meaningful way to show we care. Together, let's make this Valentine's Day a special one for the heroes among us"
Anyone can participate by creating a card and dropping it off at Rep. La Ha's district office, located at 12271 Walker Road in Lemont. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All cards must be received by February 13 so Rep. La Ha can personally deliver them to local veterans on Valentine's Day.
