Leader Schumer Statement On The Supreme Court Decision That Puts The Gun Lobby Ahead Of American Lives

Washington, D.C. - Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement on the Supreme Court's decision in Wolford v Lopez, which puts the gun lobby ahead of American lives by striking down a Hawaii law that restricts firearms in private businesses:

"This MAGA Supreme Court has once again put the gun lobby ahead of American lives.

"Today's decision strikes down a commonsense Hawaii law, steamrolls private property rights, and invites more guns into more places where families should feel safe. Americans should be able to shop, worship, eat out, and send their kids to school without living in fear of gun violence.

"Republicans may be in the pocket of the gun lobby, but the Supreme Court shouldn't be. Democrats will keep fighting to protect families and pass commonsense gun safety laws."
