Graphene Ventures congratulates Zum on securing a $100 million investment from TPG, through The Rise Fund. This brings Zum's total capital raised to $430 million and values the company at $1.7 billion.
Steve Ellis, Managing Partner of The Rise Funds, will join Zum's Board of Directors as part of the investment. He brings valuable experience to a company that is already a leader in student mobility.
This funding follows a record year for Zum in 2025. The company reported $333 million in revenue, a 35% increase from the previous year, and reached adjusted EBITDA breakeven. This is a major milestone that shows the platform can scale and the team is disciplined. With over $2 billion in total contract value and an annual growth rate of over 40% over the past 4 years, Zum's progress aligns with its ambitious mission.
These results go beyond financial success. They show real improvements in the daily lives of students and families across America. Zum now operates in more than 4,500 schools across 17 states, serving major districts such as Los Angeles Unified, Boston Public Schools, and San Francisco Unified.
Zum CMX™ is at the heart of Zum's platform. This Connected Mobility Experience brings together routing, dispatch, workforce management, safety, and communication into a single real-time operating system. While traditional student transportation uses disconnected systems, Zum CMX makes every ride more visible and reliable.
The outcomes speak for themselves:
98% on-time bus arrival rate on average
20% reduction in bus fleet size through route efficiency
Up to 10% reduction in annual transportation costs for the San Francisco Unified
4.9 out of 5-star parent satisfaction across more than 1.7 million reviews
New research released with the fundraising, conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago, found that 54% of parents say their child feels worried or concerned about school transportation. Zum estimates that this fragmentation leads to about $15 billion in educational loss each year.
Zum CMX is built to address these root causes by removing the silos in routing, dispatch, communication, and safety that have shaped the student mobility experience for years.
