Student Spotlight: Jenni Garcia-Flores

Name: Jenni Garcia-Flores
Academic standing: Senior
Expected graduation: May 2027
Major: Industrial Design, with a minor in Business Administration

I've had a strong connection to art since childhood, and it has played a major role in shaping who I am today. That passion led me to pursue a specialization in Industrial Design, where I combine creativity with purpose. I'm passionate about using design to solve problems, tell stories and create experiences that connect people.

My introduction to Wayne State began with the 2023 summer program with the Center of Latino/a and Latin American Studies. Through that experience, I was able to get a feel for campus and build connections that helped me feel more confident with transitioning into college life.

Being on campus has been central to my experience, especially as someone who hopes to later pursue higher education. Getting involved has been important to me, over my three years at WSU I've had the opportunity to take different roles.

I'm currently a third-year Orientation Leader and Vice President of Design and Advertising for the Campus Activities Team. I've also had the opportunity to design and paint murals across campus with the Success Through Intentional Learning and Engagement (STiLE) learning community.
