Kauffman to Host AARP Smart Driver Courses for Older Drivers

February 2, 2026

Attendees eligible for discount on auto insurance premiums
HARRISBURG - Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) is once again hosting the AARP Smart Driver Course for older drivers living in the 89th District in Franklin County, which includes the townships of Greene, Guilford and Hamilton, and Chambersburg Borough.

"This is a popular course that offers older motorists tips and techniques to help them become more confident and safer drivers," said Kauffman. "I am hosting both a refresher class, as well as the full two-day course for those who are interested. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis."

The AARP Smart Driver Course teaches participants the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate their vehicles more safely in today's increasingly challenging driving environment.

All classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Menno Haven Life Center, 300 Ridgeview in Chambersburg. Dates are as follows:
• April 20 - This is a refresher class for anyone who attended in 2023. The refresher class is recommended every three years.
• June 16 and 17 - Must attend both classes.
• Aug. 17 and 18 - Must attend both classes.
There are no tests to pass. The course costs $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members paid by check or money order. Space is limited. Register by calling Kauffman's district office at 717-264-3943.

Upon completion of the course, participants may be eligible to receive Pennsylvania's multi-year auto insurance discount for insured drivers age 55 and older (consult your insurance agent for details).
