Uthishta is a non-profit organization that works towards uplifting and empowering underserved communities in India through transformative initiatives in education, healthcare, and livelihood development. Through the support of AMETEK India and the AMETEK Foundation, Uthishta is extending support to 150 underprivileged children suffering from Type 1 diabetes by sponsoring essential diabetic care kits.
As part of a program of commitments to local communities, AMETEK Indiaand the AMETEK Foundation have partnered with non-profit organization Uthishtato support treatment for Type 1 diabetes for underserved children.
There is a high prevalence of people living with diabetes in India, with the country being called the "unofficial diabetes capital of the world." Type 1 diabetes can be life-threatening without treatment.
Many children who require Type 1 diabetes treatment in India come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. With support from the AMETEK Foundation, AMETEK India colleagues support nearly 150 of these children by purchasing essential medical supplies and care to manage the condition.
The children will receive free insulin, testing strips, needles, and care kits. This initiative provides life-saving treatments to ease the daily burden of managing Type 1 diabetes, which would otherwise be outside of the realm of possibility. It is a small step towards ensuring these children receive the care and support they need to manage their health with dignity, as well as improving long-term health outcomes.
In addition to front-line medical support, Uthishta offers educational resources and workshops for children and their families, with a focus on the mental well-being of children and managing the emotional and practical aspects of living with diabetes.
Supporting Uthishta is just one of many initiatives AMETEK India colleagues take part in to strengthen their community. Social responsibility is one of AMETEK's core values, and the team members in India are a proactive example of investing in and making a positive impact for local communities through volunteerism.
Sadanand Patil, Country Manager, AMETEK India & Middle East, reaffirmed AMETEK's commitment to responsible business practices and its focus on creating positive social impact.
"AMETEK is proud to support initiatives such as Uthishta that contribute to improved community health outcomes while promoting dignity, inclusion, and longterm wellbeing. Through strategic partnerships, AMETEK continues to invest to create meaningful and lasting impact for individuals and families across the regions it serves."
