Sandy Creek Water Treatment Plant (SCWTP) to be temporarily shut down for Capital Improvements

City contractors will shut down the Sandy Creek Water Treatment Plant (SCWTP) for three days, November 17-19, as part of the ongoing W.69 Capital Improvement Project.

Water conservation phases will not be escalated, and Leander will remain in Phase 2 Water Conservation (one day per week watering). During this time, the City will rely solely on the larger Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) treatment plant for water production.

This project is designed to improve the Sandy Creek Water Treatment Plant's efficiency, resiliency, and overall water production capacity by an additional two million gallons per day (MGD).
