Event supports Maryland's 5 Million Trees Initiative and statewide sustainability goals
"This is a great opportunity for all of us to come together and make a positive impact in our community," said Motor Vehicle Administrator Chrissy Nizer. "Planting trees not only beautifies our environment but also supports Maryland's climate goals and strengthens our connection to the places we live and serve."
The tree planting is open to the public and will be held rain or shine. Volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, wear comfortable clothing and bring a reusable water bottle. MVA and DNR will supply all tools needed to plant up to 40 trees. Those interested in participating must register here.
This event supports Maryland's 5 Million Trees Initiative, a statewide effort to plant and grow five million native trees by 2031, one for every Marylander. The initiative aims to improve air and water quality, enhancing wildlife habitats, and mitigate the effects of climate change. Each tree planted contributes to cleaner waterways, a healthier Chesapeake Bay, and stronger, more resilient communities across the State.
