December 5, 2025 Governor Patrick Morrisey Appoints David Amsbary to 6th Judicial Circuit in Cabell County ...

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Governor Patrick Morrisey today announced the appointment of David D. Amsbary to the 6th Judicial Circuit in Cabell County. The vacancy was left by the retirement of Judge Paul T. Farrell.

David Amsbary is a member of Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC in Huntington and serves as President of the West Virginia State Bar Board of Governors. Previously, he was an Associate Attorney at Bailes, Craig, & Sellards and a clerk to former Cabell County Judge, the Honorable John L. Cummings.

Amsbary is highly qualified, dedicated to the rule of law, and deeply involved in the Cabell County community. He has been a member of the Cabell County Library Board of Trustees since 2016 and served as President in 2021. Amsbary has also been a Board Member of Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area, Inc. since 2024 and a member of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce since 2020. He was the President of Huntington Little League from 2018-2021 and a Coach from 2010-2021. Amsbary has also served as an Adult Leader of the Boy Scouts of America from 2016-2022 and was on the Nominating Committee in 2021.

Amsbary is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and the Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law.
