WFTU solidarity statement on the devastating floods on Nepal-China borders

The WFTU follows with great sadness the unimaginable humanitarian and economic devastation caused by the flash flooding triggered by a glacial collapse in the area of the Nepal-China border.

According to the available information, the floods have resulted in hundreds of deaths and more than 1,000 people missing, while the ongoing risk of mudslides continues to affect and complicate rescue efforts.

The international class-oriented trade union movement demands the immediate implementation of all necessary measures to protect those who remain at risk, to ensure access to food and shelter to those impacted.

We express our sincere solidarity with the workers and residents of the affected areas, and our thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones.
