DCHA Says Hello to the 2026 MBSYEP Interns!

July 23, 2026 9:36 AM

On June 29, the DC Housing Authority (DCHA) continued its partnership with the Marion S. Barry Jr. Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP) by welcoming 52 interns.

Over six weeks, the interns will contribute to a variety of DCHA departments while developing professional skills and exploring potential career pathways.

The summer internship began with an orientation session, which was led by Ty'ronn Spriggs, Special Initiatives & Youth Coordinator in DCHA's Office of Resident Services (ORS) and held at the EnVision Center.

Interns enjoyed breakfast and then took part in ice breakers, team building and goal-setting activities.

The activities gave interns an opportunity to get to know each other and set personal goals for their summer work experience with DCHA, while also helping them understand professional attire, etiquette and other workplace expectations.

MBSYEP, administered by the D.C. Department of Employment Services (DOES), has operated for 47 years and remains one of the nation's longest-running youth employment initiatives. The program provides District youth ages 14 to 24 with meaningful work experiences across the public and private sectors, with a focus on leadership development, workforce readiness, and civic engagement.

DCHA is proud to continue its partnership with MBSYEP. By investing in District youth, the agency reaffirms its commitment to supporting workforce development and strengthening the communities it serves.
