LAFD ALERT | SANDY FIRE Simi Valley

LAFD ALERT | Sandy Fire -- Simi Valley
Los Angeles City firefighters are currently assisting Ventura County with the Sandy Fire, a fast-moving brush fire burning in the area of Sandy Avenue in Simi Valley. The fire is estimated at 1,364 acres and moving east.

Residents across the San Fernando Valley, including West Hills and Chatsworth, should expect to see and smell smoke this evening. Winds are carrying smoke from the Sandy Fire into Los Angeles, and air quality may be impacted. If you are sensitive to smoke or have respiratory conditions, stay indoors, keep windows closed, and limit outdoor activity.

An Evacuation Warning is in effect for portions of West Hills and Chatsworth. You are not required to leave, but you should be ready to go if conditions change.

LAFD has deployed strike teams, dozers, a hand crew, and helicopters in support of this incident:
