The Fort Worth Fire Department (FWFD) is hiring for EMT trainees and paramedics. The application process is currently open. To apply, please visit here. Applications close Nov. 30.

The Fire Department does more than just fight fires. Protecting one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country requires Fort Worth to provide a wide range of services to the community. These services include emergency preparedness, education, prevention and response. The territory covers more than 345 square miles, and FWFD answers more than 80,000 calls each year.

Requirements

  • Applicants must successfully pass a written test, an aerobic capacity run, a background check, a polygraph examination, an interview and a medical/physical examination.
  • Education: High school diploma, GED certificate or 12 semester hours of college.
  • Residency: Must live within 30 minutes of designated report-in station; must be accomplished within six months of employment.
  • Age requirements: 18-35 years of age. (Cannot have reached 36th birthday by date of entry-level exam.)
  • Licenses: Valid and current Class C driver's license. (Will be required to obtain Class B while in training.)
