Construction continues along State Route (SR) 316 in Barrow County with work advancing at several key locations. Crews have recently completed tree clearing along McCarty Frontage Road and are making progress on grading land for the new ramps at Barber Creek Road, Craft Frontage Road, and the SR 316 inside shoulder widening.

A new cul-de-sac has been built on Ventura Street and large drainage pipes are being installed along McCarty Frontage Road.

|
At Barber Creek Road, beams were set on both bridge spans and construction of the deck, or driving surface of the bridge, is starting soon. This marks another milestone in interchange construction. Signage remains in place to reinforce safety for both workers and travelers. Remember to obey posted signage and avoid distractions.

|
Bridge construction will continue at Bethlehem Road, with crews preparing for beam installation anticipated this fall. At Barber Creek Road, now that the beams are in place, crews will continue with bridge deck construction. Grading and drainage work will also advance along McCarty Frontage Road and SR 316.

Stay Safe on Game Day: Beat the Heat

After a full day in the heat, don't forget about safety on the road. If you're heading home along SR 316, make sure you are alert, hydrated, and ready for the drive. A little preparation keeps both fans and crews in the work zone safe.
Game days in Georgia can mean long hours in the sun, whether you're tailgating, walking to the stadium, or cheering from the stands. Protect yourself and your family so you can enjoy the season safely. Before your next drive:

Stay hydrated- drink plenty of water before, during, and after the game

Wear sunscreen- reapply every two hours, even on cloudy days

On August 18, the first beam setting happened on the westbound side of SR 316 at the Barber Creek Road intersection. Each beam took approximately eight minutes to be set! Check out this timelapse video to see all the beams being set from beginning to end.
