WASHINGTON - BSA CEO Victoria Espinel issued the following statement following the release of the National Cyber Strategy:
The Business Software Alliance welcomes the release of the National Cyber Strategy for its focus on strengthening the partnership between industry and government to advance economic and national security.
The Strategy's targeted priorities are well-calibrated to deliver stronger cybersecurity, a more efficient government, and a more dynamic economy for the American people.
BSA applauds the Strategy's emphasis on regulatory harmonization, which will enhance national security, improve cybersecurity outcomes, increase government efficiency, and enable global cooperation. BSA has called for the government to set a single menu of effective requirements to manage cybersecurity risk, and look forward to partnering with Director Cairncross, the entire Office of the National Cyber Director, and policymakers on this goal.
BSA also supports the Strategy's focus on modernizing government IT, accelerating the adoption of secure cloud services, advancing the responsible adoption of AI, leveraging AI to strengthen cybersecurity operations, and upgrading to post-quantum cryptography. AI is already improving threat detection and response, while modernization and quantum readiness are essential to protecting critical infrastructure.
BSA looks forward to continued collaboration with ONCD and other government stakeholders to implement the Strategy in ways that strengthen economic and national security, build trust in technology, promote innovation, and reinforce American leadership.
