April 2015 | Oracle State Park Gate Sign

In 2014, local residents, business owners, and park rangers came together to get Oracle State Park in Pinal County designated as an "International Dark Sky Park". Upon successful completion of the application, the Board of Directors of the International Dark-Sky Association (now known as DarkSky International) designated Oracle State Park as the 20th "International Dark Sky Park" in the world. Oracle State Park was the first park in the Arizona State Parks system to receive the designation. Oracle State Park had always been a hidden gem in Pinal County, but the designation in 2014 put the Park and Oracle on the international map and dramatically increased local tourism to the continued benefit of Pinal County.
