On 16 - 17 December 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, visited the Sultanate of Oman to co-chair the 2nd Thailand - Oman Political Consultations in Muscat, together with Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Alharthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman. The meeting was held on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen relations and cooperation through exchanges of high-level visits, visits by business delegations, participation in trade fairs, and the expansion of cooperation in key areas, including food security, the halal industry, energy, academic cooperation in agriculture and fisheries, health and wellness tourism, educational and cultural exchanges, as well as defence industry cooperation. These sectors represent areas in which Thailand has strong potential and align with Oman's interests under Oman Vision 2040. They also exchanged views on developments in their respective regions.
In addition, the Deputy Permanent Secretary visited the office of PTT Exploration and Production in Muscat and was briefed on the company's investment projects in Oman. She also held discussions with key Omani agencies, including Invest Oman, the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, and the Maritime Security Centre, to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation with Thai partner agencies in both the public and private sectors.
Oman is Thailand's fourth-largest trading partner in the Middle East, with total trade valued at USD 1.42 billion in 2024. Thai private sector investment in Oman has also been significant, particularly in the energy and services sectors.
