Briar Cliff University Welcomes 24 Iowa Tuition Commitment Students for 2025-2026 Year

(Sioux City, Iowa - September 16, 2025) Briar Cliff University is proud to announce that 24 students joined campus this fall through the Iowa Tuition Commitment, a program designed to provide qualifying Iowa residents with tuition-free access to higher education. Together, these students received over $550k in institutional support, making their dream of earning a four-year degree a reality.

The Iowa Tuition Commitment covers full-tuition and mandatory undergraduate fees for eligible students. To qualify, students must:

• Be Iowa residents who are U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.

• Meet Briar Cliff's admission requirements and display leadership qualities.

• Be eligible for both maximum Federal Pell Grant and be an Iowa resident.

"This program reflects Briar Cliff's ongoing commitment to removing barriers to higher education," said Dr. Matthew Draud, President of Briar Cliff University. "By covering tuition costs, we're ensuring that students from all backgrounds have the opportunity to thrive academically and personally on our campus."

The scholarship is renewable each year as long as students remain full-time, continue to meet eligibility requirements, and maintain good academic standing. Transfer students who meet the criteria are also eligible.

While the Iowa Tuition Commitment fully covers tuition and general fees, students may still need to cover costs such as housing, meals, and books. These expenses can often be offset through additional grants, scholarships, or financial aid.

The initiative underscores Briar Cliff University's mission to expand access to higher education for students from low-income families and build a more diverse and inclusive student body.
